Runner AwardsTM Forges Ahead, Vowing to Defend the Social Running Community
DURBAN, KWAZULU-NATAL, 04 October 2025 – In the face of recent challenges, the Runner Awards™ wishes to thank the running community for its overwhelming support. The countless calls and messages from runners across the province have reinforced our belief in this initiative and illuminated the very need it is fulfilling.
Runner Awards (PTY) LTD is a private entity and sole owner of the Runner Awards™ initiative. The company has the full authority to create and host this peer-to-peer celebration platform. Runner Awards™ exists to celebrate the resilience, achievements, and the spirit of every pavement pounder, from the early morning runners to those chasing sunset miles. We exist for those running for health, for healing, for personal bests, for connection, and for the simple joy of celebrating life’s milestones on the road. We are committed to augmenting a winning nation and promoting an active, healthy lifestyle for all.
Runner Awards™ was created to give the public the power to nominate, vote for, and celebrate their peers. This process will culminate in a premier gala event on 01 November 2025 hosted at the Olive Convention Centre in Durban.
The nomination phase, conducted via the USSD code *120*1501#, closed successfully on 29 September 2025. The finalists have been announced on our official website, https://runnerawards.com. Public voting is now LIVE via the same USSD code and will run until 31 October 2025.
We wish to state unequivocally: The Runner Awards™ is not an athletic event. It is a curated celebration managed by runners, for the ultimate benefit of runners. Therefore, the Runner Awards™ 2025 is continuing undeterred. We want to be clear: We are prepared to defend against any legal action from any organization. We will not allow the celebration of our community’s achievements to be dimmed.
